Openmatics, ZF’s connectivity specialist, has won the “German Telematics Award 2018” for innovation with its versatile data platform ‘deTAGtive’ logistics. The award was presented to the team at the Future Congress of Commercial Vehicles, which took place in Berlin on November 7 and 8.

The award, organised by the ETM publishing house is now in its third year. The winner was chosen by a five-person expert jury who selected the participant which offered the best solutions across five criteria: system characteristics, positioning and map display, vehicle-related functions, driver-related functions and business process management. “The ‘deTAGtive logistics’ system from ZF’s Openmatics is unique, and as such a worthy winner of the innovation award,” said Carsten Nallinger, Head of Business Intelligence at the ETM publishing house and member of the jury.

Always up-to-date with TAGs

In manufacturing, and in particular within the field of logistics, networked vehicle dispatch and efficient tracking of goods are essential. Openmatics confronts this challenge with this innovative asset tracking solution which offers users better control and documentation within transport. The dispatcher is kept informed at all times of what is happening and can intervene immediately if necessary.

Small, powerful monitoring tags are at the heart of this interactive technology. Thanks to Bluetooth Smart Technology, these battery-powered sensors with a surface area smaller than a business card can be easily installed almost anywhere without the need for extensive cabling. Data can be obtained directly from the goods, allowing users to detect and respond to losses or damage in real time. This innovative application is built on Microsoft Azure technology, the cloud computing platform from Microsoft.

Thomas Rösch, General Manager of Openmatics, explained: “We are honoured to receive this award. Openmatics is a flexible and open connectivity platform that works independently of vehicle and component manufacturers, making it an all-in-one solution. In addition to the award winning system of deTAGtive logistics, Openmatics offers a fleet management portal with a large number of products and services for all vehicle types.”
