Friedrichshafen. ZF Friedrichshafen AG is expanding its activities to attract qualified, young women as junior employees for technical occupations. The technology company in driveline and chassis technology as well as active and passive safety technology signed a cooperation agreement with the Femtec network on Monday. Femtec helps young women in the fields of engineering and science to plan and organize their studies and careers.
"The promotion of talented young women is an important concern at ZF," stated Jürgen Holeksa, Executive Vice President, Human Resources and Director of Labor Relations at ZF, on Monday at the signing of the cooperation agreement in Friedrichshafen. "We have already achieved a 50-50 male-to-female ratio in our international trainee program. Thanks to the cooperation with Femtec, we can look forward to expanding both our network and theirs. We will now be able to offer more young women the opportunity to enter the automotive industry – and we will get to know talented, engaged applicants who have the know-how we need."
As a cooperation partner of Femtec, ZF will be able to offer female participants internships and thesis projects, as well as excursions that provide a glimpse into the working world at a technology company. In addition, ZF employees of both sexes will function as mentors for the Femtec participants as they embark on their careers. As a member of the Femtec Council, ZF also injects practical experience into the career program from a company point of view.
"We are pleased to have acquired such an attractive company as ZF Friedrichshafen AG for our career network," says Renate Lohmann, General Manager at Femtec. "With its wide-ranging product portfolio, ZF offers engineering and science students ideal opportunities for starting a career."
