The new ZF UrbanLine transmission systems are an innovative and customized solution for urban mobility. They assist in comfortably and safely covering the constantly increasing distances in buildings and public premises.
With these transmission systems, ZF is setting new standards in safety, quality, quietness, energy efficiency and compactness. ZF transmission systems for escalators and moving walkways are designed for the most demanding scenarios and suitable for a wide variety of installation contexts – a point that is underlined by many prestigious reference projects worldwide.
The ZF UrbanLine transmission systems are based on two-stage planetary gearsets. The coaxial installation minimizes the installation space of the entire drive unit. The transmissions have a gear ratio i = 1:100. In this design the drive is generated directly, making the duplex chains often used for power transmission redundant. The costly chain and lubricants as well as the oil traps required under environmental regulations can therefore be dispensed with. The high energy conversion ratio also maximizes energy efficiency.
Planetary gearsets are virtually wear- and maintenance-free throughout their entire service lives. Downtimes and operating costs are correspondingly reduced. Thanks to its design, the entire drive system is more compact, resulting in greater overall escalator compactness.
ZF UrbanLine planetary gearsets can be installed more easily, with less effort and are particularly suited for powerful motors and high input speeds. As a result of their very quiet running characteristics (56 + 2 dB), people or loads are transported gently and quietly; this creates ride comfort, which simultaneously engenders a feeling of safety.
Another telling advantage is that unlike the worm gear pairs used up to now, planetary gearsets support energy recuperation – i.e. the energy can be recovered.
