Beijing (China). Envision Energy and ZF Wind Power have signed a strategic partnership agreement for the development and delivery of gearbox solutions for the next generation offshore wind turbines. With this partnership, both partners leverage their respective advantages in brand, technology and market, while jointly building high-reliable and cost competitive offshore wind turbines for the fast-growing wind market. Customers will benefit from more flexible and modular solutions, competitive lifecycle costs, high quality and reliable products and a fast integration in the customer roadmap.
The strategic partnership represents an important step forward for the well-established cooperation between Envision Energy and ZF Wind Power. “Operating under the principles of mutual development, integrity and shared interests, we believe that the combined strengths of both companies will create exciting new possibilities and opportunities while jointly promoting the development of offshore wind power,“ says Mitja Schulz, Head of ZF Wind Power.
As a result of its constant dedication to new technological innovations, ZF Wind Power built the modular SHIFT platform which is the first of its kind in the global wind turbine gearbox industry. Its innovative concept, flexible modular design and intelligent concept manifested ZF’s position as a global leader in the development of next generation wind turbine gearbox technology.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Mitja Schulz, Head of ZF Wind Power, Sun Weidong, Head of ZF Industrial Technology Division China, Xu Gang, Global VP of Envision Energy and Lu Wei, Global VP of Envision Energy. “This strategic partnership will bring significant benefit to our customers in terms of advanced technology, robust quality and superior lifecycle cost advantages,” explains Xu Gang.
ZF Wind Power is a worldwide leading technology-driven manufacturer and pioneer in the global wind turbine gearbox industry, claiming more than 50 percent global share of 3.x MW onshore gearbox applications, more than 60 percent of 6.x MW offshore gearbox applications. ZF also delivered the world’s first offshore 9.5 MW wind turbine gearbox and has the largest global installed capacity of 8 MW offshore wind turbine gearboxes.
