Innovations that Drive Market Success: ZF with New Technologies at busworld Türkiye 2026

“What we are showing at busworld Türkiye is how ZF is advancing its market position for the bus and coach industry across all technology areas,” said Frank Burkhart, Senior Vice President, Sales Bus & Coach, at ZF’s division Commercial Vehicle Solutions. “As a Tier-1 supplier providing solutions for electrification, safety and digitalization technologies, our focus is on aligning these areas into integrated systems to improve efficiency, safety and reliability while helping to reduce operating costs. Backed by our global development and manufacturing as well as a strong local service network, this approach allows us to scale innovative technologies efficiently across different markets and applications.”

AxTrax 2 LF with digital condition monitoring

Compared with its predecessor, the AxTrax 2 LF electric portal axle for city buses delivers average energy consumption savings of 20 percent in SORT cycles, allowing operators to reduce battery capacity requirements while increasing vehicle range. As part of ZF’s new electric driveline kit, the axle is designed around standardized components and shared software modules, enabling improved performance, simplified vehicle configurations and improved total cost of ownership across multiple bus applications.

The axle can be further enhanced with a new ZF health check software. This software‑as‑a‑service analyzes e‑drive data remotely to enable condition monitoring and early fault detection, improving vehicle availability and lowering total operating costs. With this, ZF enables fleets, OEMs and independent fleet management systems to offer a detailed analysis of this important vehicle component.

e-comp Scroll air compressor

Designed for medium‑ and heavy‑duty hybrid, battery‑electric and fuel‑cell vehicles, the e‑comp Scroll oil-free air compressor for electric vehicles uses two interlocking scrolls to generate compressed air while producing very low levels of noise and vibration. At a nominal operating point of 250 liters per minute, noise emissions are limited to around 67 dB(A), supporting NVH requirements that become more prominent as electrified commercial vehicles become quieter.

ADAS and GSR II technologies

In the area of active safety, ZF presented its General Safety Regulation (GSR)-compliant advanced driver assistance systems suite for buses. As part of ZF’s integrated safety and vehicle motion control approach, the scalable ADAS portfolio combines camera, radar and software functions into coordinated systems rather than isolated features.

Functions include Intelligent Speed Assist, Blind Spot Information System as well as new Driver Monitoring System and Event Data Recorder systems. These systems enhance safety for drivers, passengers and vulnerable road users while supporting compliant and efficient bus operations. By leveraging synergies from across the ZF Group and adapting them to commercial vehicle requirements, ZF helps OEMs reduce integration effort while preparing for current and future regulatory demands.

Digital telematics

ZF also highlighted ZF Bus Connect, its dedicated telematics solution for buses. Developed specifically for bus applications, ZF Bus Connect connects multiple vehicle domains — including driveline, braking and auxiliary systems — to enable operators and manufacturers to monitor vehicle status, optimize fleet performance and support predictive maintenance strategies.

Latest implementations include extensive battery analytics as well as condition monitoring for ZF drivetrain solutions such as the AxTrax 2 LF. By linking digital services with physical vehicle systems, ZF enables data‑driven optimization that directly supports higher vehicle uptime and lower total cost of ownership.
