Tırsan Deploys ZF solution to Meet Rigorous UNECE R156 Software Update

The UNECE R156 regulation on Software Updates and Software Update Management Systems, implemented by the United Nations, is an international standard that ensures the secure and systematic management of increasingly critical software updates in modern vehicles. This regulation mandates maintaining software integrity throughout the vehicle's entire lifecycle and ensures that updates are carried out without compromising vehicle safety, thus enabling safe road transport even with newly emerging technologies.

Application at Tırsan

At Tırsan, ZF’s SCALAR Software Manager, an element of ZF’s SUMS Service Suite, will store software update information for all trailers equipped with a ZF electronic or braking system for 10 years. Beyond UNECE R156 compliance, all data storage and transfer activities will be carried out in accordance with relevant data protection requirements such as the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Tırsan’ s products enhance the competitiveness of customers in Türkiye and over 70 other countries. The entire Tırsan product range including general cargo, cold chain, tank silo, intermodal and lowbed trailers will be manufactured in full compliance with the new regulations. All systems requiring software, especially electronic and braking systems, will be managed with the knowledge and approval of Tırsan, guaranteeing safe use of the vehicles throughout their lifespan and ensuring that any additional approval processes are carried out quickly and smoothly.
